In-network Delta Dental care for KSU students, faculty, and families

If you are a KSU student, faculty member, or staff with Delta Dental, here is what matters: Dr. Alan Parnes, DDS is in-network with Delta Dental and runs a practice that fits a student schedule. Same-day visits for toothaches, evening hours that work around classes, and a front desk that handles your insurance verification before you sit in the chair.

The office is at 6199 GA-92, Suite 132 in Acworth. From the Kennesaw campus the route is straightforward: head north on Cobb Parkway or take Chastain Road to GA-92. The drive runs about 10 to 12 minutes off-peak. From the Marietta campus, factor in another 10 minutes.

For KSU students on a parent's Delta Dental plan

Most full-time students under 26 stay on a parent's dental plan. If your parent's plan is Delta Dental PPO or Delta Dental Premier, you are likely covered as a dependent. Two practical things to know:

  • Your card may be in your parent's name. That is normal. You need the member ID number from the card. Take a photo of the card and you are set.
  • Out-of-state Delta Dental plans usually still pay in-network here. Delta Dental sub-brands operate state by state (Delta Dental of Georgia, Delta Dental of California, etc.), but most contracts honor the national PPO network. Translation: if your family is out of state and on a Delta plan, your benefits very likely apply at our office. Call us with your member ID and we will verify.

For KSU faculty and staff

Cobb County and the State of Georgia both offer Delta Dental options through their employee benefits. We process claims for [VERIFY WITH CLIENT: SHBP Delta Dental, USG Delta Dental, etc.] and most other Delta plans. If you are unsure which plan you have, we can identify it from your member ID.

Getting from Kennesaw State University to the Office

The office is at 6199 GA-92, Suite 132, Acworth, GA 30102. There are two practical routes from the main KSU campus on Chastain Road:

  • Cobb Parkway (US-41) route. From Chastain Road, head west to Cobb Parkway and turn north toward Acworth. Stay on Cobb Parkway/US-41 for about 5 to 6 miles, then connect to GA-92 for the final stretch into the office. This is usually the most direct surface-road option.
  • I-75 route. From the KSU area, take I-75 north a few exits, then exit and connect to GA-92 west toward Acworth. This is often faster off-peak but slows considerably during morning and evening rush hours.

Total drive time is roughly 12 to 18 minutes from the Kennesaw campus depending on traffic and route. From the KSU Marietta campus, plan on closer to 25 minutes via I-75 north.

Parking at the office is on-site, surface-level, no garage. Suite 132 is at the front of the building.

Tip for students: schedule for an early-morning slot before classes start or an after-3 PM slot when campus traffic eases. Avoid the 4 to 6 PM window if you can.

How being in-network with Delta Dental actually saves you money

  • You pay only the contracted in-network rate, which is usually well below an out-of-network office's regular fee.
  • Your annual Delta Dental maximum stretches further at an in-network office because each visit costs less, leaving more benefit available for the year.
  • We file your claim directly. You pay only your portion at the visit.

Services KSU patients use most

  • Six-month cleanings and exams. Most Delta plans cover these at or near 100 percent.
  • Tooth-colored fillings. Standard in our office, typically no extra charge over silver fillings on most Delta plans.
  • Wisdom tooth extractions. Typical age range for wisdom tooth removal lines up with college years. We refer to oral surgery if extraction complexity calls for it; we handle straightforward cases in-house.
  • Emergency visits. Cracked tooth from biting on something, sudden severe sensitivity, a chip from a fall. Call us in the morning and we hold same-day spots.
  • Whitening and Invisalign. Most Delta plans do not cover whitening. Some include an orthodontic rider that applies to Invisalign. We check this when we verify your benefits.

Your first visit

Plan on 60 to 75 minutes. Bring a photo ID and your Delta Dental card (or a photo of it). New patient forms can be filled out online before you arrive.

Your first visit includes a full exam, digital X-rays as needed, and a one-on-one conversation with Dr. Parnes about any concerns. If treatment is recommended, you leave with a written estimate that shows your Delta Dental coverage and your portion.

Frequently asked questions from KSU patients

I'm an out-of-state student. Will my parent's Delta Dental plan work here?

Almost certainly yes. Delta Dental contracts honor the national network across most states. Call(770) 928-4434 with your member ID and we will verify with Delta Dental directly before your visit.

How long does a typical Delta Dental cleaning visit take?

About 50 to 60 minutes for a standard six-month cleaning, exam, and X-rays. New patient first visits run a bit longer because we add a full exam discussion.

Can I book around my class schedule?

Yes. We hold early morning and evening slots specifically because patients in school or working full days need them. Saturday is closed, but most weekdays we have 8 AM and late-afternoon openings.

Do you do wisdom teeth?

We evaluate wisdom teeth at every comprehensive exam and handle straightforward extractions in our office. For impacted or complex cases, we refer to a trusted oral surgeon and coordinate the referral.

I haven't been to a dentist in three years. Is that a problem?

Not for us, and we hear it often. We start with a full exam and a non-judgmental conversation about where you are. You leave with a clear plan that fits your schedule and your Delta Dental benefits.

Call(770) 928-4434 to verify your Delta Dental benefits and book a visit that fits around classes, clinicals, or work. New KSU patients welcome.
