An Acworth practice serving Cobb County families for more than 40 years.

An Acworth Practice Serving All of Cobb County

Our office sits on GA-92 in Acworth, in the northwest corner of Cobb County. From here we serve patients across the entire county, from Kennesaw seven minutes south to Mableton 30 minutes southwest. Dr. Alan N. Parnes, DDS, has practiced dentistry in Cobb County for more than 40 years. He graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry in 1982 [CONFIRM graduation year], and many of his current patients started with him decades ago.

The practice handles general, cosmetic, restorative, and emergency dentistry in one location. Cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, dental implants, Invisalign, professional whitening, and same-day emergency care are all in-house. We are in-network with Delta Dental, and the Friends and Family Membership Plan covers patients without insurance.

Cobb County Cities We Serve

We see patients across Cobb County. Approximate drive times to our Acworth office, all from town centers:

  • Acworth: 5 minutes [CONFIRM]. We are inside the city of Acworth, so most Acworth patients reach us in under 10 minutes.
  • Kennesaw: 12 to 15 minutes via Cherokee Street and GA-92.
  • Marietta: 25 to 30 minutes via I-75 south or US-41
  • Smyrna: 35 to 40 minutes via I-75 south.
  • Powder Springs: 30 to 35 minutes via Powder Springs Road and GA-360.
  • Austell: 35 to 40 minutes via East-West Connector and I-75.
  • Mableton: 30 to 35 minutes via East-West Connector.

Patients from the closer cities (Acworth, Kennesaw, the Lake Allatoona communities) make up the largest share of the practice. Patients from the farther cities typically come either because they grew up coming to Dr. Parnes or because they need a Delta Dental in-network office that closer alternatives cannot provide.

Services Under One Roof

Family and Preventive Care

Six-month cleanings and exams, digital X-rays, dental sealants, oral cancer screenings, and periodontal therapy. The hygiene schedule is consistent enough that most families can be booked into the same standing appointment slot twice a year.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Professional whitening, porcelain veneers, cosmetic bonding, Invisalign clear aligners, and full smile makeovers. Cosmetic work is paced to your event schedule when there is one (wedding, milestone birthday, work milestone) and to your comfort level when there is not.

Implants and Restorative Dentistry

Single-tooth implants, multi-tooth restoration, dentures (traditional, partial, and implant-supported), and All-on-4 full-arch implant cases. Dr. Parnes places and restores implants in-house. Root canal therapy and tooth-colored fillings are also covered.

Same-Day Emergency Care

A broken tooth, severe pain, or a tooth knocked loose by trauma all qualify as same-day cases. Call (770) 657-7120 before 1 PM and we will make every effort to fit you in that afternoon. The office closes at 5 PM Monday through Friday; emergencies after hours should be directed to the nearest emergency room or an after-hours dental line.

Why Cobb County Patients Choose This Practice

Three factors come up repeatedly when patients explain why they drive to Acworth instead of using a closer practice.

First, continuity. Dr. Parnes has been here for more than 40 years. That tenure matters for complex restorative cases, where the cumulative knowledge of one mouth across many decades is worth a lot, and it matters for families that want their children to see the same dentist their parents did.

Second, in-network insurance. We are in-network with Delta Dental, which covers a large share of Cobb County employees. For a Cobb patient whose employer offers Delta Dental, the math of driving 20 extra minutes to an in-network office almost always works out in their favor against staying closer with an out-of-network provider.

Third, the Friends and Family Membership Plan. For uninsured patients, the plan covers two cleanings, two exams, and routine X-rays for one annual fee, plus a 15 percent discount on additional treatment. Cobb County has a sizable share of households on individual marketplace plans that exclude dental, and the membership plan is built for that situation.

Insurance and Membership Options

We are in-network with Delta Dental. We file claims at every visit and provide upfront cost estimates before treatment begins. Out-of-network plans are usually still accepted; the practice files the claim and the patient is responsible for any balance.

The Friends and Family Membership Plan is the practice's in-house solution for patients without dental insurance. Two cleanings, two exams, routine X-rays, plus a 15 percent discount on additional treatment, all for one annual fee.

Larger treatments such as implants or full-arch restoration can be financed through CareCredit, with monthly payments structured over six to 24 months. New patients without insurance can also use the $125 New Patient Exam or the $199 New Patient Exam plus Healthy Mouth Cleaning, both for first-visit pricing in the absence of periodontal disease.

Frequently Asked Questions for Cobb County Patients

Where exactly in Cobb County are you located?

We are in Acworth, in the northwest corner of Cobb County, at 6199 GA-92, Suite 132. From the geographic center of the county (around Marietta), the drive is 25 to 30 minutes.

I live in South Cobb County. Is the drive worth it?

For patients with Delta Dental coverage where the closer offices are out of network, the drive almost always pencils out in their favor. For uninsured patients, the Friends and Family Membership Plan often makes the drive worthwhile because the annual cost is meaningfully lower than the equivalent care at a closer fee-for-service office.

Do you treat patients from outside Cobb County?

Yes. We see patients from Cherokee County (Woodstock, the Towne Lake area), from north Fulton, and from Bartow. The Acworth location sits at a meeting point of three counties, so the practice has always had a mix.

What insurance plans are you in-network with for Cobb County employers?

We are in-network with Delta Dental. Many large Cobb County employers offer Delta Dental. Call (770) 657-7120 with your member ID and we will verify before your appointment.

Are you accepting new patients from Cobb County?

Yes, the practice accepts new patients. The new-patient specials are $125 for an exam and X-rays, or $199 for an exam, X-rays, and a healthy-mouth cleaning. Call (770) 657-7120 to schedule.

Book Your Visit

Call (770) 657-7120 or book online. Tell us which Cobb County city you are coming from and the front desk will help you pick an appointment time that minimizes the drive. If this is a dental emergency, call rather than book online.
