Dental Services Often Requested by Allatoona-Area Patients
Routine Cleanings and Family Preventive Care
Cleanings every six months are the foundation of preventive care for adults and kids. The first visit for new patients includes a full exam, digital X-rays, and a one-on-one consultation.
Same-Day Dental Emergencies
Active lifestyles near the lake mean dental emergencies happen: a chipped tooth from a boat dock fall, a knocked-out tooth from a kid's soccer game at Red Top Park, a cracked tooth from biting down wrong on something. Same-day appointments are available when called for in the morning during business hours. For pain or injury that happens evenings or weekends, urgent care or an emergency room is the right immediate stop; the office can then handle the dental follow-up during business hours.
Restorative Work: Crowns, Bridges, and Root Canals
Crowns protect teeth that are too damaged for a filling. Bridges replace missing teeth by anchoring a replacement to neighboring teeth. Root canals save teeth with infected or damaged pulp rather than letting them be extracted. The right approach depends on the specific tooth and situation, which Dr. Parnes reviews at the consultation.
Dental Implants
Single-tooth implants and All-on-4 implant-supported dentures are both offered. The first step is a consultation to evaluate jawbone density and to discuss the best fit for your situation.
Cosmetic Whitening and Invisalign®
Professional teeth whitening can be completed in one to two visits depending on the option chosen. Invisalign® clear aligners gradually shift teeth into a straighter position over a 6-to-18-month course depending on the case.
Custom Night Guards
Patients who grind their teeth at night benefit from a custom night guard (also called a bruxism splint). Custom guards fit precisely from impressions of your teeth and protect against the wear, chips, and TMJ pain that nighttime grinding causes.
About Allatoona, GA 30121
Allatoona (zip 30121) sits in southern Bartow County, just north of the Acworth city line, with Lake Allatoona itself as the area's defining feature. The lake supports year-round outdoor activity: boating, fishing, swimming, paddle sports, and lakeside camping. Red Top Mountain State Park, with miles of trails, swim beaches, boat ramps, and picnic areas, anchors the recreational side.
Day-to-day life leans on the Cartersville-Acworth corridor for grocery stores, pharmacies, healthcare, and retail. Quick connections to I-75, GA-20, and GA-92 keep Atlanta, Kennesaw, and surrounding job centers within reach. Seasonal festivals, lake events, and youth sports give the area a small-town community feel without sacrificing access to metro-area amenities.
New Patient Specials
For patients without insurance, the practice offers a $125 new-patient exam with X-rays, or a $199 new-patient exam with X-rays and a healthy mouth cleaning (in the absence of periodontal disease). These cannot be combined with insurance and apply to new patients only.

Allatoona Patient Questions
How long is the drive from the Allatoona area to your office?
About 10 minutes off-peak via GA-92 south, or about 14 minutes via I-75 south to Glade Road (Exit 277) and then GA-92 west. Drive times stretch to about 16 minutes during rush hour. The office is on the right side of GA-92 as you approach Lake Acworth Drive.
What should I do if I have a dental emergency on a weekend or outside business hours?
The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and offers same-day appointments during those hours. For severe pain, swelling, or trauma to a tooth that happens evenings or weekends, the right immediate stop is an urgent care center or hospital emergency room, which can manage pain, infection, and any non-dental injury. Call the office at (770) 657-7120 first thing on the next business day to schedule a dental follow-up. For a knocked-out adult tooth, store the tooth in milk or saline (not water) and get to urgent care quickly; reattachment is most successful within the first hour.
How long do professional teeth whitening results typically last?
In-office whitening results typically last 6 months to 2 years depending on diet, brushing habits, and lifestyle factors like coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco use. Take-home whitening kits dispensed through the practice can be used to maintain results between in-office sessions. Patients who avoid staining foods and brush twice daily generally hold their results longer.
Are silver (amalgam) fillings still considered safe, or should I have them replaced?
The American Dental Association and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have concluded that amalgam (silver) fillings are safe for most patients. The FDA does recommend caution for specific groups (pregnant women, nursing women, young children, and people with mercury sensitivity). For an existing silver filling that is intact and functioning, replacement is generally not necessary. If a filling is cracked, leaking, or causing sensitivity, replacement with a tooth-colored composite filling is reasonable. The decision is made together during the exam based on the specific tooth.
What is the process for getting a dental crown, and how long does it take?
A dental crown typically takes two visits. At the first visit, the tooth is prepared (shaped to receive the crown), impressions are taken, and a temporary crown is placed. The impressions go to a dental laboratory where the permanent crown is custom-made, usually over 2 to 3 weeks. At the second visit, the temporary is removed and the permanent crown is cemented in place. Same-day crowns produced in office with CAD/CAM systems exist at some practices but are not currently offered here; the traditional two-visit approach is what is available.
