Common Concerns for College-Age Patients
Patients in their late teens and twenties tend to have a similar set of dental questions. Here is how we usually handle the most common ones.
Wisdom Teeth Evaluation and Removal
Most people get their wisdom teeth between age 17 and 25, which is exactly when many KSU students are on campus. Some come in straight, fully erupt, and never cause problems. Others come in sideways, get stuck under the gum, or push the teeth in front of them out of alignment. We will take a panoramic X-ray, look at the position of each one, and tell you honestly whether to remove them, watch them, or leave them alone. For surgical extractions of impacted wisdom teeth, we may refer to an oral surgeon if the case calls for one.
Sports and Athletic Mouthguards
Club sports, intramurals, weekend basketball runs, gym fights with a barbell — anything that puts your teeth in the line of fire is worth a custom mouthguard for. The sporting-goods boil-and-bite version protects, but a custom guard fits better, lasts longer, and most athletes wear it more often because it is comfortable.
Cosmetic Care Before Graduation
Teeth whitening, bonding for chipped or uneven teeth, and minor cosmetic adjustments are quick to do and usually affordable. If graduation, a wedding, or a big career interview is on the calendar, plan a few months out and we will tell you what is realistic in the time you have.
Emergency Dental Visits Around Class Schedules
If a tooth cracks the night before a final, call us at 8 AM and we will figure out the day. We hold space for emergencies. Most pain calls are seen the same day.
Getting to Our Office From KSU
The drive from KSU's Chastain Road campus to our office runs about six miles and takes 12 to 15 minutes most of the day. The fastest route is Chastain Road to I-75 north, off at exit 277 (GA-92), then west on GA-92. We are on the right at 6199 GA-92, Suite 132.
If I-75 is backed up around shift change, an alternate route through Kennesaw on Cobb Parkway and Cherokee Street takes a few minutes longer but avoids the interstate. For students between classes, a cleaning visit fits comfortably in a 90-minute window.
Directions from KSU Campus to Our Office
From the main KSU campus at 1000 Chastain Road, take Chastain Road west to I-75 South, exit at Glade Road, and follow GA-92 northwest into Acworth. Our office at 6199 GA-92 is on the right side of the road. The drive is about 15 minutes in normal traffic. Parking is on-site and free.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the drive from KSU to your office?
About 15 minutes from the main campus in normal traffic. Slightly longer at rush hour.
I'm a student without insurance. What are my options?
Start with the $125 New Patient Exam and X-Rays. If you need work after that, we can either accept a card payment, run a CareCredit application for monthly payments, or talk through priorities so you can space out treatment.
Do you remove wisdom teeth?
We evaluate every patient's wisdom teeth and remove the ones that are reasonably accessible. For deeply impacted cases or surgical extractions, we refer to an oral surgeon and help coordinate the appointment.
Can I book an appointment between classes?
Yes, when scheduling allows. Tell us your class block when you call and we will find a slot that works. We are open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
Do you accept the dental plan offered through KSU benefits?
Most major PPO dental plans are in-network with us, including the plans typically offered through state employee benefits. Call (770) 657-7120 with your card and we will confirm.
